Nurk — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
Nurk is a real-world geolocation game operated by the owner of
northernarchive.com as a personal, non-commercial project. This policy
explains what data the Nurk app and its backend collect, why, and how it is handled.
Questions: pasta0126@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, and basic profile information (name and profile picture). This is used to create and identify your player account.
- Location. While the app is open and you have granted permission, the app reads your device's GPS position and sends it to the Nurk backend. Location is the core mechanic of the game — it is used to move your player, claim and hold map parcels, and validate that movement is physically plausible (anti-cheat).
- Gameplay data. Records tied to your account that result from playing: claimed parcels, loot, creatures, disputes, and a history of accepted and rejected position reports.
We do not collect contacts, photos, messages, or any device data beyond the above. There is no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.
How we use it
Solely to operate the game: authenticating you, running gameplay, and preventing cheating. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for profiling or marketing.
Third parties
- Google Sign-In handles authentication. Your use of it is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap tiles are used to draw the map; requests for map tiles reach the OpenStreetMap Foundation's servers.
Where data is stored
All account and gameplay data is stored on self-hosted server hardware controlled by the operator. It is not hosted with a third-party cloud provider.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing pasta0126@gmail.com; it will be removed within 30 days.
Children
Nurk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be announced in the app.
